CCNA Salary in India 2026: What Network Engineers Actually Earn

A CCNA-certified engineer starting out in India typically starts at ₹3–5 LPA in NOC and network support roles, moving to ₹6–12 LPA with three to five years of experience and ₹15–25 LPA in senior enterprise roles — with Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune paying at the top of each band. CCNA alone gets the interview; combining it with automation skills or a CCNP is what moves engineers into the upper ranges fastest in 2026.

"What will I actually earn after CCNA?" is the question every batch asks in the first week, and most answers online are either inflated or years out of date. This guide gives the realistic 2026 numbers for India — by experience level, by city tier, and by what you stack on top of the certification — based on live job postings and what employers offer our alumni.

The honest salary bands

  • Entry level (0–1 years), CCNA certified: ₹3–5 LPA. Typical titles: NOC engineer L1, network support engineer, technical support engineer (networking), field engineer. non-certified candidates doing the same work sit closer to ₹2.5–3.5 LPA.
  • 1–3 years: ₹4.5–8 LPA. L1-to-L2 NOC progression, ISP and managed-services roles, first enterprise network roles. Shift allowances at 24/7 NOCs add ₹40–80k a year on top.
  • 3–5 years: ₹6–12 LPA. Network engineer and senior NOC roles. This is where a CCNP (usually ENCOR + ENARSI) and automation skills split the band: CLI-only engineers cluster at the bottom, engineers with Python or Ansible at the top.
  • 5–8 years: ₹12–20 LPA. Senior network engineer, network lead, data-centre or security-adjacent roles at banks, GCCs and large integrators.
  • 8+ years / architect track: ₹20–35 LPA and up, with CCIE holders and network architects at large enterprises going well beyond.

Treat these as market ranges, not guarantees — the spread within any band is driven by employer type more than by the certificate itself. A GCC in Mumbai and a small integrator in the same city can differ by 60% for identical job descriptions, which is why the second half of this article is about positioning rather than the exam.

What moves you up within a band

Four factors show up again and again in the offers our placement desk sees:

  1. Employer type. Product companies and GCCs pay most, then large integrators and ISPs, then small service companies. Getting your second job right matters more than optimizing the first.
  2. Hands-on lab depth. Interviews at good employers are practical: configure OSPF between these routers, troubleshoot this VLAN. Engineers who trained on real racks consistently outperform simulator-only candidates.
  3. Automation skills. Python basics, REST APIs and Ansible are the single biggest differentiator in 2026. "CCNA plus scripting" is a different — and better-paid — job market than "CCNA".
  4. Communication. NOC and enterprise roles involve tickets, escalations and change windows explained to non-engineers. Weak written English caps offers in ways nobody states openly.

CTC versus in-hand: read the offer letter properly

Indian offers quote CTC — cost to company — and the gap between CTC and monthly in-hand pay surprises every new engineer. A ₹4 LPA CTC typically lands around ₹28,000–30,000 a month in hand after PF contributions, professional tax and TDS; variable pay, gratuity and insurance premiums inside the CTC number widen the gap further at some employers. When comparing two offers, compare the fixed component and the in-hand figure, not the headline. Also check the notice period (90 days is common and constrains your next switch) and whether the company buys out notice periods when hiring — both quietly affect what your certification is worth over a two-job horizon.

Shift work changes the math too. 24/7 NOCs pay night-shift and rotational allowances that add ₹3,000–7,000 a month, and cab facilities for odd hours are standard at larger operations. Early-career engineers often earn meaningfully more at a shift-based NOC than at a nine-to-five desk — and the troubleshooting exposure compounds faster.

City by city

Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and the Delhi NCR corridor set the top of every band; expect roughly 15–30% less in tier-2 cities like Nagpur, Indore or Kochi, partially offset by living costs. Mumbai deserves a specific note: the density of BFSI headquarters means unusually strong demand for network engineers with security exposure — firewalls, VPNs, NAC — and those hybrid roles price above plain routing-and-switching work.

Certifications versus experience: what actually earns the raise

The certificate and the job do different work. CCNA's value is concentrated at the entry: it gets a résumé past screening when there is no experience to screen. From the second job onward, employers pay for what you have run — the size of the network, the incidents you have handled, the changes you have executed cleanly — and certifications act as multipliers on that story rather than substitutes for it. The practical rule: certify just ahead of the role you want next, not three levels above the role you have.

The path the numbers recommend

Reading the bands backwards gives a clear strategy. Get CCNA and a first NOC role quickly — waiting for a "perfect" first job costs more than it earns. Spend years one and two adding Python and Ansible while doing L1/L2 work. At the two-to-three-year mark, take CCNP ENCOR (or CCNA Automation if your interest is programmability) and switch employer type upward. That sequence reliably takes engineers from ₹3.5 LPA to ₹10–12 LPA within four years — we have watched alumni do exactly this for nearly three decades.

How RST Forum fits in

RST Forum has taught Cisco networking in Mumbai since 1997 — over a million engineers trained — and our CCNA batches run in the Mumbai classroom and live online across India. Labs run on real Cisco hardware through the Skillopia platform, because rack time is precisely what separates candidates in practical interviews. Batches run mornings, evenings and weekends to fit working schedules, and the first lecture of every batch is free: sit in, meet the trainer, and judge the teaching before you pay for it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the starting salary for a CCNA-certified new engineer in India?

Most CCNA-certified new engineers start between ₹3 and ₹5 LPA in NOC engineer, network support or field engineer roles. Candidates with strong lab skills and good communication land the upper half of that band; metro locations and product-company IT teams pay more than small service providers.

Is CCNA enough to get a job, or do I need CCNP too?

CCNA is enough for entry-level roles — that is exactly what it is designed for. CCNP matters at the three-to-five-year mark, when you are competing for network engineer and senior engineer positions. Doing CCNP starting out without work experience rarely pays off; employers read it as theory without context.

Which cities pay network engineers the most in India?

Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and Gurugram consistently top the bands, driven by banks, GCCs and large service providers. Mumbai's concentration of BFSI headquarters makes it particularly strong for network security and data-centre roles. Remote NOC roles exist but usually price between tier-1 and tier-2 city rates.

Does network automation knowledge increase a CCNA salary?

Yes, and it is the highest-leverage add-on in 2026. Engineers who can write Python against network APIs, use Ansible for configuration management, or hold a CCNA Automation (formerly DevNet Associate) routinely see offers 20–40% above CLI-only peers at the same experience level.

Is CCNA still worth it in 2026 given AI and automation?

Yes — arguably more than before. Automation changes how networks are operated, but someone still has to understand what the automation is doing. The engineers being squeezed are those who only execute repetitive CLI changes; CCNA-plus-automation skills are the combination the market is actively short of.
