01- What are the prerequisites for the AI Engineering course?
- Working knowledge of Python - variables, functions, classes, loops. That's the only gate. Everything else, including all the mathematics, is taught from zero inside the course. If you don't know Python yet, take RST Forum's Python Programming course first and join the next AI batch.
02- I'm weak at math. Can I really cope with this course?
- Yes - the math is designed for exactly this. There is no upfront math wall: a parallel Math Friday track runs one session per week (Weeks 1-6), and each session lands one week before the content that needs it. Every formula is derived and visualized, never hand-waved, so you always know both what the math says and why it appears where it does.
03- Do I need an expensive GPU laptop?
- No. Any laptop with 8 GB+ RAM works for most of the course. Early GPU labs run on Google Colab's free tier; for the GPT-training labs in Weeks 9-10 we guide you through Colab Pro or renting a cloud GPU for a few hours - the cost is small and the experience of managing real GPU training is part of the syllabus.
04- Will I actually train my own GPT, or just use APIs?
- You actually train one. In Weeks 9-10 you write the complete GPT architecture in under 300 lines of PyTorch, pretrain it on a corpus you choose (Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Linux documentation, even your own writing), implement the samplers and KV cache by hand, then instruction-tune it so it follows instructions - and present it at demo day. APIs and agents come after, in Weeks 11-12, once nothing about them is magic.
05- How is this different from a data science course?
- Data science courses optimize for analysis - dashboards, statistics, notebooks. AI Engineering optimizes for building and shipping AI systems: you still get the classical ML and evaluation discipline, but the arc continues through deep learning, transformers, training your own GPT, RAG, agents, and two full weeks of MLOps deployment. You leave with running services, not just notebooks.
06- What is the schedule and time commitment?
- 13 weeks, 6 days a week, with each session running about 2.5-3 hours (evening batches suit working professionals). That's roughly 78 live sessions plus lab time - around 234 hours of instructor-led training in total. Classroom batches run in Mumbai and the same batch runs live-online across India.
07- Is the course live or recorded?
- 100% instructor-led live training - classroom in Mumbai with the same batch live-online across India. If you miss a class, repeat lectures are free of charge on an approval basis, consistent with RST Forum's policy across all courses.
08- What jobs can I target after this course?
- The program maps directly to four roles: AI Engineer (RAG, agents, evals), ML Engineer (training and debugging models), GenAI/LLM Engineer (fine-tuning and serving open models), and MLOps Engineer (CI/CD, monitoring, drift). Your capstone - a deployed, monitored AI system with tracked experiments and an eval suite - is built to be shown in interviews.
09- Do I get a certificate?
- Yes - the RST Forum AI Engineering certificate on completing the capstone. More importantly, you finish with a portfolio: your own trained GPT, a production RAG system, an agent you built from scratch, and a deployed, monitored service - which is what technical interviews actually weigh.
10- Why should I learn AI at RST Forum?
- RST Forum has trained working engineers in Mumbai since 1997 - over a million alumni - and its teaching signature fits AI unusually well: lab-driven learning, deliberate troubleshooting exercises, and instructors who have run production infrastructure. The MLOps phase (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Grafana) is taught on RST's home turf, which is exactly the part most AI courses skip.
