Candidates will learn to incorporate intelligent and integrated monitoring and analytical capabilities into a SOC. They will learn to synthesize information, see patterns, and use effective data analysis techniques. They will learn to investigate logs and use reports to identify suspicious activity and to proactively hunt the threats. This course will enable candidates to understand SOC operations, playbooks, packet captures

Outcomes

Skills you'll gain

  • Investigating Endpoint and Appliance Logs.
  • Understanding Enterprise Environment Assets.
  • Implementing Threat Tuning.
  • Understanding APIs.
  • Malware Forensics Basics.
  • Threat Hunting Basics.

Objectives

What you'll be able to do

The course objectives, as the vendor's own blueprint states them.

  • Describe the types of service coverage within a SOC and operational responsibilities associated with each.
  • Compare security operations considerations of cloud platforms.
  • Describe the general methodologies of SOC platforms development, management, and automation.
  • Explain asset segmentation, segregation, network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and approaches to each, as part of asset controls and protections.
  • Describe Zero Trust and associated approaches, as part of asset controls and protections.
  • Perform incident investigations using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and/or security orchestration and automation (SOAR) in the SOC.
  • Use different types of core security technology platforms for security monitoring, investigation, and response.

Cisco certification roadmap

The whole Cisco path, and where you are on it

CCNP Cybersecurity is a professional track - the core exam plus one concentration. The Automation and Cybersecurity tracks each have an associate exam of their own that most people sit first - useful, not required.

Cards you can click are certifications we run a live course for; the rest are on the chart for context. Cisco's program is wider than this - the complete version is linked below. Levels, tracks and exam codes follow Cisco's own career certifications chart, rev 08/26, which sets no formal prerequisite between levels: the lines are the route people take, not a gate.
